NOTICE:
This page covers topics related to the Metawiki itself.
These are the rules for Metawiki membership. Please read them in their entirety.
1). Do not be abrasive, aggressive, condescending, or otherwise hostile to Metawiki administration or fellow members
Any violations of this rule will be dealt with anything ranging from temporary membership revocations and/or bans to (if necessary) legal defensive measures.
2). Persons under 18 years of age are not allowed to join Metawiki
Anyone caught lying about their age will be summarily removed and banned without notice. Appeals will be considered 10 days after the user turns 18, with sufficent but non-identifying proof given.
3). Active members of hostile and bad-faith communities are not allowed to join Metawiki
Anyone caught concealing and/or lying about their current participation in said communities will be summarily removed and banned without notice. Appeals after 1 year that are determined to be sincerely repentant will be accepted, barring particularly heinous actions in these communities. Say "I've read all pages linked and rules listed and wish to join Metawiki." verbatim in your application, in order to officially be considered for membership. Applications that do not follow this will be denied, and legal and/or self-defensive measures will be taken if necessary.
4). Personae non grata are not allowed to join Metawiki
Former members of SCP/WL communities ousted for sexual crimes, being current and/or past but unrepentant members of hostile and bad-faith communities, unrepentant bigotry, unrepentant participation in harassment campaigns, legal threats, and/or crimes on-record at any governmental level are barred from joining Metawiki indefinitely with no chance of appeal.
5). Do not deliberately take actions that could get Metawiki, its admins, its members, and/or yourself in legal troubles
Self-explanatory.
6). Do not be maliciously litigious
Adding onto the above, any Metawiki member who issues frivolous legal demands, fraudulent DMCA takedown notices, implicit or explicit intentions of lawsuits against members of Metawiki, and/or anything else deemed a frivolous legal threat - whether it's out of spite, revenge, monetary gain, petty selfishness, or anything else that muddies legal waters - will be summariliy removed and permanently banned from all associated spaces without any future chances of appeal. Any/all future attempts at vexatious litigation will be responded to with any/all legal countermeasures possible and/or necessary via appropriate channels.
7). Do not vandalize, troll, flame, or otherwise negatively affect the usage of Metawiki.

8). Do not use the word "content" in reference to any human-made piece of media, singularly and/or broadly
The word "content" is inherently dilutive and disrespectful to creators who have put considerable time and effort in their works. As such, using it to refer to anything that is a human-made piece of media in any capacity is forbidden. Edits referring to them as such will be reverted, removed, and/or otherwise dealt with, up to and including page locks.
Using phrases such as "the contents of (WORK NAME)" are accepted.
9). Do not plagiarize
Passing off someone's work as your own1 is treated with zero tolerance, and will result in immediate removal/deletion of affected materials and a ban of at least one year.
10). No AI when making an article, period
Metawiki is against the usage of generative LLM and media tools in any capacity when covering a topic. This includes:
- Generating text
- Generating audio and/or visual materials
- Vibe-coding
- Using AI-powered translation software
- Citing sources made with AI, either partially or wholy
While Metawiki will still allow topics about external media that uses generative tools in its design process, using them while documenting them is not allowed.
This is a flat and indefinite ban. Metawiki will not entertain arguments about certain modules being "ethically sourced" in any capacity.
11). There's a stark difference between being critical and being an asshole
Do not write anything on Metawiki and/or related spaces that makes you come off like the latter. This includes:
- Libelous statements, defamatory claims, pedojacketing, victim blaming, false accusations, and/or anything else in articles/analyses/op-eds/comments that can be considered personal attacks towards a community and/or its members/creators which could lead to legal action. Follow SVSN and TBAPOV at all times, or don't write it.
- Substanceless blanket statements in articles/analyses/op-eds/comments - such as "everything by X author and/or involving X GOI/setting/character/etc. is bad/mid" -being presented as fact. If you cannot or do not want to provide further clarification as to why you think that, do not say it, period.
- Anything else determined by Metawiki administration to be in violation of this rule.
12). Bigots and chuds are not allowed to join Metawiki
Do not be a bigot, harbor pro-oppressive/suppressive beliefs, or otherwise intend to cause harm to marginalized persons, groups, and/or other systems.
13). Do not be excessively unserious
Metawiki is not Wikipedia, in the sense is that we do not require you to be formal and serious at all times when communicating on the site.
However, Metawiki is also not the Transformers Wiki. That means you are not given carte blanche to clown around. You are still required to act reasonably mature, tactful, and polite when on the Metawiki site. This means:
- Do not be silly when adding text, code, and/or files to pages with objective information. We are a bit more lenient when it comes to op-eds, comments, and other subjective pages, but don't push it.
- Edit and contribute to objective pages - and the comment pages thereof - as yourself, not "in-character". That means do not: act irreverent/obtuse/coy 24/7, deliberately mis-SPAG stuff, and/or do anything that indicates - subtly or obviously - you're playing a persona. First breakage of this rule will result in a warning; refusing to "break character", doubling down, and/or otherwise ignoring this stop order will result in further disciplinary actions, up to and including a total ban from Metawiki. More lenience is given on op-eds and other subjective pages, so long as all prior and subsequent rules on this page are complied with
- Do not screw with the format on objective pages. They are meant to be comprehensible and out-of-universe. So metafictional properties of a creation (e.g. the Nameless, the Toaster, ) are to be ignored when covering them.
14). Respect the Metawiki
Beliefs and practices that hinder Metawiki's goals2 are not tolerated in any capacity, and will be summarily dealt with.
15). Staff have final authority and jurisdiction
Metawiki administration and staff reserve the right - at will - to issue membership revocation, temporary/permanent account/IP bans, and/or other disciplinary/legal/self-defensive measures due to moral, legal, ethical, and/or other cases/concerns, explicitly covered by the above rules or otherwise.
